We had been in Sydney for almost a month and had not yet ventured out on our own to explore areas around the city. One of the most famous destinations from Sydney is Manly beach and the experience of travelling to Manly on a ferry is something to be experienced. We caught a bus from home and travelled to Sydney CBD in the morning. From there, we walked to “The Rocks”. Then we caught a ferry to Manly Beach.
The ferry ride is quite an experience. If the weather is good, like it was on the day we travelled, it is best to sit on the deck to enjoy the ride. The ferry left the Circular Quay, passed the Sydney Opera House, passed a lot of small boats and then finally docked at Manly Harbor.
At Manly, there are a number of interesting walks that one can do, depending on the time that one has on hand. Since, we were constrained by time, we did a small walk.
We walked on and on and even went exploring into non-walk friendly areas, until we reached the top of a cliff. The view from here was beautiful and we could see the waves hitting the rocks down below.
It was already time to walk back and we had a long walk in front of us. We managed to catch the return ferry, just in time to catch the sunset on the return journey to Circular Quay.
It was a mesmerising sight once again, as we sat on the deck enjoying the sunset.
