Georgia Sunshine Village

It had been 3 weekends since we had stayed put in Bangalore, and the weekend of 18th and 19th August 2007 wasn't to be any different!

With one set of parents visiting, we decided to plan a drive to some place outside Bangalore, someplace not too far (so that we could make it back before Sunday evening), and yet not too close (to get away from the madness of Bangalore). We all wanted some peace and quiet.

We dare say, we did find the perfect setting, although we did come across it rather innocuously. Browsing through the book "52 weekends away from Bangalore", we came across the Shivasamudram falls. Digging a little deeper, we came across the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, and thought that would be near perfect. Digging still further, we hit on "Georgia Sunshine Village", which we might define as जन्नत!

We found out the details, and voila, we had a booking for the weekend.

The drive there was about three hours, partly because the route that falls on NH 209 (Bangalore to Coimbatore) was not constructed at all! Anyways, that was the only bumpy part of the journey. Even the road through Hebbani Village (ever heard of it?) was better than the NH 209. For a route map, you can refer to:

Georgia Sunshine Village was a very well setup little village with modern amenities. It was the perfect get-away from the mad cities of today. There was so much peace and quiet there, that one could stay there for weeks (you can refer to the Georgia Sunshine Village website).

We got to stay in huts, with attached bathrooms, that were partly open to the sky. It was a very different experience, one that we can say we really enjoyed. The food served there was very good, and there was a lot of variety. There is an open swimming pool, which one can even enjoy in the night. There is so much greenery around to savour, and so much fresh air to take in, that we feel that the trip, although very short, refreshed our bodies and minds.

Part of the package includes, "fun-fishing". A guide took us down to a lake, where he gave us bamboo sticks with fishing ropes tied to them. He put a small blob of आटा on each and handed it to us. All we had to do was dunk the आटा underwater and enjoy the sight of fish, feeding on it!

Next day, early in the morning we went for a nature walk. A guide took us for a nice long walk lasting an hour, in which we saw some farms, rustic huts, cows, goats, cocks, and a great variety of plants.

Post breakfast, it was time to leave. None of us really wanted to, but we knew we had to. We drove back to Bangalore, reliving the experience that we had all shared and enjoyed so much.

Back in the mad city rush, we all miss Georgia Sunshine Village.
